04.15.26The Champion Advantage: Get the Same Video Coaching as Michigan’s Dusty May
Recently, TLAC founder Doug Lemov was profiled in The Athletic for his work with Michigan Basketball head coach Dusty May.
The article, which appeared just before Michigan won the national championship, described how May had studied video tape of his own teaching with Doug.

Dusty sent Doug video of his film sessions with players and the two discussed how to maximize learning: by using Cold Call and other means of participation for example, and by tweaking questions to focus on players visual perception. Or by making the learning environment both demanding and psychologically safe.
School leaders and coaches who aren’t going deep in the March Madness bracket might occasionally bemoan not having access to the kinds of resources a top-tier basketball coach has but video study is one exception to this rule.
TLAC offers video study of exactly the sort Dusty did with Doug to schools, school leaders, teachers and coaches: if you send us your video we’ll watch it and schedule a time to give you (and your colleagues if you wish) feedback.
If you’re a school leader you might send us video of you running a staff meeting or leading PD; or you might choose 2 or 3 teachers whose classrooms you want to dig deep into—perhaps as a reward for teachers who are hungry to get better. If you’re a coach you can send us your film session or what you do on the field or court.
We can’t promise you a national championship but if you’re as hungry to improve as Dusty May we can offer you the same process.
