Excellent instruction requires teachers to teachers to both thoughtfully challenge and support their students in achieving mastery. Join the world class educators at Teach Like a Champion, a renowned teacher training organization, for a series of six 90-minute interactive remote workshops to deeply study and practice tools designed to make you a better medical educator. In these sessions we will analyze and practice the most effective educational techniques for teaching on rounds and in small groups.
This collection of techniques from Teach Like a Champion 3.0 will help transform and revolutionize your teaching through studying the implementation of techniques like Wait Time, Cold Call, Everybody Writes, Effective Questioning, and Lesson Preparation and reflect and practice how you can bring them into a medical training context.
ADAPTED FOR REMOTE LEARNING:
Our regular Train the Trainer workshops are two 8-hour days of intense training. For the remote version of this workshop, we’ve spread the learning out based on research on adult learning. Each synchronous workshop will consist of six 90-minute online sessions over the course of three weeks. These will be supported by asynchronous learning activities (including, but not limited, to pre/post readings, video analysis, and practice). One of our objectives will be to model interactive online training, so that participants can also “live the learning” – experience the impact the techniques have on themselves as learners, while also learning about them. The combination of synchronous and asynchronous activities will optimize both learning and engagement and can be applied to all remote PD.
The workshops will follow a format similar to our in-person workshops: video study, rich discussion and lots of practice. Group sizes will be small—groups of less than 35 educators facilitated by authors Doug Lemov and Erica Woolway and a master medical educator—so that we can maximize engagement and, of course, practice.
